About the Event
Miss Virginia Day" an afternoon of performances and discussion at the downtown library auditorium from 1 p.m 4:30 p.m. in honor of Virginia Schrantz, who was a retired nurse known to all as Miss Virginia who earned international acclaim for her dedication to helping others. She opened her heart and her home at 1312 S Hanna St. to those in need.
Her legacy lives on with the Miss Virginia Food Pantry at the same address that provides food at no cost to members of our community.
Guests include staff and volunteers at the Food Pantry, as well as at other organizations that utilize volunteers to help others such as NeighborLink, Meals on Wheels and the YMCA.
We're happy to announce that the Angel Project, three teen sisters from Fort Wayne will kick off our special day performing and talking about why they volunteer at the Food Pantry. They opened RiverDrums 2020 at Promenade Park and made their national debut on the Disney Channel last year.
