Receiving a grant focused on balanced food and nutrition marks a significant milestone. It reflects a commitment to improving health through better eating habits and access to nutritious options. This achievement opens new doors to support communities and promote sustainable food choices. Balanced nutrition matters now more than ever.

Why Balanced Food and Nutrition Matter
Balanced nutrition is the foundation of good health. It provides the body with essential nutrients needed for energy, growth, and repair. Unfortunately, many people face challenges accessing or choosing healthy foods, leading to diet-related health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
St. Joseph Community Health Foundation's Board of Directors has approved a $26,250 grant for the Balanced Nutritional Food Program at Miss Virginia's.
Balanced food means including a variety of food groups in the right proportions:
Fruits and vegetables for vitamins, minerals, and fiber
Whole grains for sustained energy and digestive health
Lean proteins for muscle repair and immune support
Healthy fats for brain function and hormone production
Limited added sugars and processed foods to reduce health risks
This grant will help address these challenges by funding programs that educate, provide resources, and improve access to nutritious foods.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation."
