Fort Wayne, IN – Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry (MVFP) is proud to announce a $35,000 grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation (SJCHF). The work being done at the pantry is partially supported by a grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation. The funding will bolster MVFP’s Balanced Nutritional Food Program (BNFP), providing essential foods such as meat, eggs, canned vegetables, and fresh produce to approximately 7,350 guests in Fort Wayne’s food deserts.

“This grant empowers us to continue Virginia Schrantz’s mission of alleviating hunger with nutritious options,” said Greg Witte, MVFP Director. “It ensures families in low-income communities have access to healthy meals tailored to their needs, like diabetes-friendly options and culturally preferred foods.” A client shared, “MVFP’s support means my kids don’t go to bed hungry, and I can cook meals that keep us healthy.”

The grant will support approximately 57,377 pounds of food distribution, addressing food insecurity in Fort Wayne’s 46803, 46806, and 46816 zip codes. MVFP remains committed to health equity and community engagement, serving a diverse population (35% African American, 24% Hispanic, 13% Asian) with the help of 66 volunteers. For more information about MVFP or to get involved, visit www.missvirginiafoodpantry.com or contact Greg Witte at 260-426-0176.
